Thank you for your interest in the Collections and Archives of the Baranov Museum. Our mission is to collect and interpret the history of the Kodiak and Aleutian Islands region. Our objects and archives tell a story about people and places in coastal southwest Alaska. We are grateful to you for thinking of the Baranov Museum as a potential home for your treasures.
Object and Artifact DonationAs we plan for the future, prudent development of our artifact collection is especially important. The Acquisitions Committee, comprised of Museum staff and community volunteers, meets three times a year to evaluate and make decisions on donations. Decisions are based on your object’s history and significance to the history of the Kodiak and Aleutian Islands region, and its relationship to artifacts already in our collection. To help us in this important decision-making process we ask that you complete our Object Evaluation Questionnaire . You may not be able to answer all of the questions, but the more information you can give us, the better our decision will be. Museum staff would be happy to assist you with the questionnaire. Please visit us, email our Curator of Collections Anjuli Grantham or call 907-486-5920 for assistance.
